Let go...

Turning our backs on the past
and moving forward
is as easy as forgetting...
But it would make things less difficult
if we've made up our minds
to leave things behind
and be still in His grip of grace
that keeps us from falling...
If we've seen today coming,
could we have avoided regret?
Could we have silenced the words on our lips,
stopped ourselves from hurting
or kept from being upset?
The truth is - we couldn't see
We never knew our mistakes 'till we made them
And yet, because He knows that we're weak
He causes those who cry out to Him
to stand firm...
And then slowly, as we begin to walk again
and truly leave things behind,
leaning on the everlasting God,
letting go and forgiving ourselves...
in Him, strength and hope we'll find.
