A year ago from today...

Gosh. I'm suddenly flooded with fond memories of spending hot Sunday afternoons at 'Mini Taman Negara' (the house Ben was looking after for a year, while Uncle and Aunty C were away)... :P You guys remember the snake adventures? *chuckles* Ben did a good job - he was so faithful. Gardening, cutting grass, clearing up the garden, dealing with the utilities, etcetera, etcetera... I was very much less faithful, I'm afraid.

I've not seen them in a whole year already. Miss them.

A year ago from today sounded funny like this, on my old blog:

"Thursdays will be always Thursdays. Slightly past the middle of the week, the usual flurry to get ready for the weekend, the excitement of "Tomorrow", etc. And tomorrow, I'm gonna say TGIF... again! Can you believe it?!? The weeks are slipping past that fast! I don't even know why. Perhaps, it's because I'm looking forward to going home! The bus tickets are ready, we've applied for our leaves, and golly-schmolly, I can't wait for the day I can finally board the bus with my paraphernalia of bags... I have not seen home since the beginning of 2008. Sigh, salt didn't work on my ulcer. Tomorrow, I'm gonna buy the ointment for mouth ulcers... A list of today's random joys:
  • My new 'fruitcake' eye-shadow. Um, I call it that, because the colour-palette reminds me of fruit-cake. Tried it on, and I must say that the colours blend very well - and I love the way they accentuate the shape of my eye. Ok, I think I am starting not to make any sense, even to myself.
  • Lining my shelves...
  • Getting the important laundry done. Now all I hafta do is to wash the towels and bedsheets - which can wait till Monday. Now, I'm being lazy.
  • Finishing the last bun in the box (the expiry date was a few days ago, but I kept the box in the fridge, so they tahan-ed a little longer. Was glad and relieved to finish everything before any mould appears. Haha)
  • Looking forward to tomorrow.
  • Reading the last page of 'Life as a Vapor'. Amazing book by John Piper. It is not mine. It is Rachel's. She lent it to me ages ago... and I hogged her book for so many months, without reading it. I don't know why I started reading it last week - but I'm glad I picked it up again. Coz it is a superb book. And I'm glad I finished it - so I can return it to her when we next meet up.
  • Receiving a random text from tailo. Actually, I received it late last night. But I only saw it this morning.
  • Spending much quality time with the Lord
  • Talking to Ben on the phone
  • Talking to Zoey on the MSN
  • Getting all the church Sunday bulletins printed out before 6.30pm!:)
  • Pumped petrol and put air into my tyres (I'm not sure that is how grammatically correct that is)
  • God sent rain after a very panas terik day. (It's funny...but I don't know how I got sunburned on my neck)
Think I shall blog a little more tomorrow. Gotta go do a little ironing before bed."

Interpretation? OK, here goes...

1. I sounded much younger a year ago... I don't think I'd use so many exclamation marks in my blog posts now.

2. I only had 7 days of annual leave per year while I was working. I am so relieved that I do not have to apply for leave to go home this time round...

3. I used to say 'TGIF' on my blog every Friday... Nowadays, I have stopped doing that...I do not long so much for Fridays to come anymore (it's a good sign)... plus Fridays are usually dateline/exam days... hehe.

4. I kept getting mouth ulcers back then. It was a very stressful two months for me. I still do...especially when I am stressed. The only thing that really worked on them was that yummy-tasting melon powder Ben let me try once.

5. I had no washing machine in my apartment then. I didn't exactly like laundry days (Thursdays), but I had no choice...coz I can never go without clean dash-dash-dash. (Only Pig knows the answer.) Now I wash my clothes more than once a week...thanks to God's blessing of the free washing machine in my house after I had started studying at MBTS. And thanks to Ben's mum's compassionate heart.

6. I am still a Rachel's-books-hogger. Her books stay in my house for ages before returning home. But yeah, I love reading the books from her mum's bookcase - especially Elisabeth Elliot's. And wow, our friendship's lasted yet another year too :) Awesome!

7. I used to chat on the MSN... till my account started sending out by itself weird messages to my friends about Viagra promotions, diet pills and weird stuff. @_@ It was creepy. Brother Keon told me 'bout those messages. Haha. I then freaked out...and never turned it on again. SO yes... I do have an MSN account. I just use it no longer.
