Offering?

A weekend-funny -

You know Paul Baloche's 'Offering' song? It goes something like this:

"The sun cannot compare to the glory of the Lord
There is no shadow in His presence
No mortal man would dare to stand before His throne
before the Holy One of Heaven
but it's only by Your blood...
and it's only through Your mercy -
Lord I come..."

I was singing it on the way to cell group on Saturday...and was about to go into the Chorus part which goes, "I bring an offering of worship to my King..." when my boyfriend, who had been deep in thought about something else...suddenly piped up, "I will offer BQ..."

Which gave me quite a shock at first - coz I thought he meant that he was going to offer BQ (a friend of ours)as living sacrifice unto the Lord... You know, like those, old gruesome, Leviticus days, when the priests used to slaughter animals to offer up to the Lord as sacrifices for the people's sins? When Jesus came, He abolished that practice, as He had lovingly and graciously paid the price for the sins of mankind on the Cross of Calvary - now and forevermore, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish. That's what the song means anyway - "It's only by Your blood...it's only through Your mercy... Lord I come."

I digressed. Anyway, back to my story - thankfully my boyfriend proceeded to explain that he had decided to offer BQ a ride to cell group every Saturday, from now onwards.

Needless to say, I laughed and laughed, for the remainder of our journey to cell group.
